Random Statements
All of these statements are aimed at people I know (some probably even apply to more than one person) but I am not writing who they are to/about. Those people will most likely know. I'm also not tagging anyone. (This is a variation on one of the posts that gets passed from person to person.)
1. I respect you more than you could possibly know. You have an amazing heart and a great capacity for love but I think taking time for yourself is a good idea right now.
2. I don't want to say "I told you so" but I did and I worry that it's too late.
3. Rumors and gossip aren't considered truth until there is some basis to make them true. Think about it.
4. I disagree with some of your actions recently but I would be hypocritical if I was judging you for it. I love you and I hope you know I'll be here for you no matter what.
5. I keep saying that I know how I feel but I don't know how you feel. Maybe it's better that I don't know so I can't get hurt.
6. You are driving me nuts! "Chicks before dicks" apparently doesn't apply in your world. Just remember that when the guy is an ass, your girl friends are the first ones to be there for you; as long as you haven't run them off.
7. You are incredibly talented and I am lucky to know you. I hope you will try to live up to your potential and stop letting people talk you out of doing things the way YOU want to.
8. You are incredibly malleable and that's how it should be. Don't be too serious, you're still really young!
9. If I didn't see your status change or you post on other people's walls on Facebook, I would seriously doubt your existence. Invisible much?
10. I am glad my friends like you but I am sick of losing friends because of it.
11. I won't ever forget you. You were one of my biggest supporters and I love you for that. It means more to me than you will ever know.
12. A friendship is two-sided. Not when it's convenient; always.
13. I wish I knew what was going on with you and what I did to make you turn your back on me. I'm still here if you need anything.
14. I love when we laugh until our stomachs hurt, cry until our eyes are red and puffy and argue about everything and nothing at the same time. You are the closest thing to a sister I'll ever have.
15. I wish you would stop being so picky. Things happen for a reason and I think you'll be surprised what happens when you let go.

Thankful
So, I was thinking about all of the things I am thankful for. My mom and I were actually talking about it and she said that I should concentrate on the good things, no matter how small they seem/are. I made a bit of a list...
I'm thankful for:
~ My Friends
~ Mike
~ My mom and brother
~ My job(s)
~ The people I work with
~ Time off
~ Cold nights and hot chocolate
~ Walking in the dark
~ Playgrounds at midnight (or later)
~ Stargazing
~ Swimming pools
~ Hot tubs
~ Singing
~ Music
~ Movies
~ Books
~ Denny's (some people know what I mean!)
~ Little sister(s)
~ Nieces and nephews
~ Children in general
~ Incredible opportunities
~ Education
~ Pictures
~ Scrapbooking
~ Text messaging
Anyone that I haven't talked to/seen recently may think this list is odd. And some of these things could probably be grouped together. But in the long run, it's becoming the small things in my life that truly make me happy... Going swimming with friends, singing karaoke on a Friday or Saturday night, going to a movie, cuddling with Mike, shopping with Tiffany, visiting with Kristyn, Heather, Kylee and Deryk, and so on.
I haven't felt like I have a lot to be thankful for... With the crap with my dad and my health not always being the greatest, I felt a little like things might be a tad hopeless. Now looking at this list makes me realize that there is SO much more to life and that the possibilities/opportunities are endless!
My plan in the next little while is to reconnect with people I haven't seen or talked to in a while. I know that part of the reason I was feeling like things were somewhat hopeless is that the group I had been a part of and had a niche in isn't really a group anymore. I miss seeing my friends who are in new relationships or are newly engaged/married. I look forward to seeing their new homes and hearing about how life is going. And for those people who just had babies, I look forward to meeting the newest addition to your family. I'm pretty good at being the "cool aunt"! :)

My night tonight...
I've had a rotten couple of days and I'm at the point that running away/screaming until I have no voice left seem like the only options left.
I've been made to feel as though I am unimportant at work, to supposed friends, and by the general people around me. The look of "WHO do YOU think YOU are?" is something I hate and I'm sick of the drama some people create and expect to drag me into. I'm not in HS anymore and that mentality is driving me bananas! If someone if having a problem, I'm the type of person who will be there for them and will listen if they need to talk. But blaming the problems on me when I'm not involved isn't fair to me, nor does it help the situation.
So, tonight... I got off work and was planning on heading for Karouzo's/Titan's. I was in the mood to have a couple of drinks and sing. I got off work, went home, met Tiff and called Kurt. Our original plan was that my mom would drive us over to the bar and Mike would pick us up when he was off work. I arrived home and my mom wasn't there. She also wasn't answering her cell phone. So after trying the cell(s) a couple of times on the way across town and when I got home, I called one of her friends to find out if she had been heard from in the last (approximately) 2 hours since she had last called me. No one knew where she was so I went in to let the dogs out and wait to hear back from her.
Now, this is where things get a little weirder.
She called me around quarter to 10 to say she was at the house in the N.E. and was waiting for my dad to come back out of the house. My aunt had signed him out of the hospital on a day pass and he needed to drop some stuff off at the house before he went back to the hospital. He'd been in and out of the house and the motor-home and the truck/camper a few times. Mom had been on her way back across town when he called and asked if she had keys to the lawnmower she had moved for him earlier in the week. She drove back over to give him the keys. Sometime after that, she was standing outside talking to my aunt and my aunt mentioned she hadn't seen him in a while. So, mom went to go inside and see where he was. She couldn't get through the front door because he had it barricaded. She called me and asked what she should do and I told her she had a couple of options. First, call the hospital and see what they're strategy/opinion would be or second, call the police. She called the hospital (as did I) and the nurse said that as he's a committed patient, he is their responsibility. She called the police.
Here's where things get a little more nuts... I now have Tiffany with me, she met me at my house. I call Kurt and ask him to head over and make sure mom's ok. Tiff and I head across town. I get a call from the CPS and the nurse at the Foothills on my way across town. We arrive to three cop cars, 6 officers, my mom and Kurt all standing outside the house. We parked across the street for almost half an hour and then mom was asked to go elsewhere, not too far and they'd let her know what was happening. Now, I'm not sure exactly what the protocol/policy is for a situation like this one but apparently the police checked to see if he was in the motor-home first. Mom gave them a key and it was empty; he wasn't in there. Then, they are walking around the house with flashlights (did I mention that Leeza and Cleo are in the backyard and are going nuts?) and knocking on the doors and windows, trying to see him. They couldn't break in without my mom' permission and some form from the hospital so one of the officers drove to the Foothills to get the paperwork and the others kind of hung out, still scanning the house with flashlights. My understanding is that they needed the paperwork and potentially the TAC team, if available. Mike called sometime during all of this and I gave him directions to where I was and when he got there my mom filled him in. The four of us had been freezing so I went to Timmy's for coffee, etc. for all of us.
Eventually, the officer with the paperwork came back and the TAC team wasn't available so they were going in. We couldn't see how they got onto the roof but the next thing we know we can hear glass smashing and the flashlights going into one of the upstairs windows. Shouts of "Calgary Police" could be heard down the block. Mom and I were both already shaking at that point and I think (for me anyway), it made it worse. They were in there what seemed like a long time... In reality it was about 20 minutes so it was longer than expected. This is now almost 2 hours since I arrived with Tiff.
Finally, an officer came over to fill us in. He said they had scanned the entire house and had found him "hiding at the back of a closet in the basement." I have to admit, I haven't lived in the house for 8 or 9 years but I was puzzled. There are no closets in the basement... I realized a couple of minutes later that he must have been in the cold room in the far, back corner of the basement. He was escorted out in handcuffs and seated in the back of a police car. My mom told me to get out because he'd blame me first off and she said I didn't need that. She was right, I don't. We agreed to meet at Denny's ASAP and Mike, Tiff and I left. Kurt and Mom went back over to see what was going on with the house.
The damage was pretty minimal, all things considered. The front door frame is slightly busted but nothing that some wood glue and a clamp can't fix. The upstairs window is going to need to be replaced. Mom is supposed to take a video camera in to take a video of how the place looks so the psychiatrist and we were told that the police are concerned about the animal being outside so we need to figure out where to take them ASAP. Mom is going to look into her options in the morning.
We did go to Denny's. I called mom's friend and filled her in as well as texted my brother. He knew bits and pieces; we'd been phoning him all night about random things that were happening. When Mom and Kurt showed up, Mike left. I drove Tiff home and I'm just home. I work tomorrow from 9:30-6 and I'm not necessarily feeling like it is my best choice to be there. But I need SOMETHING to keep my mind off of things.
As bad as it sounds, I'm numb. To the point that I don't care what happens to him anymore. My Mom doesn't deserve the way he is treating her or people in general and none of his family seems to get how sick he actually is. We're told that we're blowing things out of proportion. I didn't know that my dad weighing in at 125 pounds, wearing a army fatigue-print cowboy hat and driving around in a motor-home that is labeled:
Midnight Cowboy
J.G. Androsoff Farms Inc.
Alberta/B.C.
Along with home and cell numbers on it was blowing it out of proportion. Or, the 16 vehicles he has "acquired" since June. For us, that's the reality. People who haven't seen him in a while would be SHOCKED at how he looks! But the offer of support? Non-existent.
I hope he can get some help in the hospital. But I also don't know how I feel about him being released back into society again. Thus far, since he got out in June, he's worse than when he went into hospital in February. Then again, he now has a grudge and seems to have a need for payback that wasn't evident before. Either way, it's scary.

Karaoke
Tonight, we went to Amber's for a movie night with the NELY group. Marshall, Amy, James, Amber, Ben and I were there and had a ton of fun! We watched "Aristocats" and "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and played UNO. It was SO much fun!!!
Afterwards, Amber and Ben and I decided to go out.
Thing is, I haven't sung in public in a VERY long time and I decided that because we were bored, we should go to Karouzo's. It's now called Titan's but I haven't been there in a few years and the sign on the building still says Karouzo's. I have to admit, I'm sure that it's like 54 in Lethbridge, which used to be called "the Goose" or something. It does make me feel old to realize that I'm going to be a "it was called and will always be" kind of person.
Anyway, so we went to Karouzo's and the other two got drinks, I had my Sprite and looked through the book of songs for a while before deciding to do one that I haven't sung in years... When I was just out of HS, Kristyn, Martha, Jason, Raymond and I used to hang out at Coyote's in the N.E. whether Kris or Raymond was working or not. Martha used to ask me to sing "These Boots are Made for Walking" by Nancy Sinatra. So, I decided that if I was going to sing anything, I would choose a genre or a time period and stick with it. lol, so, I chose "before my time" as a time period and ended up singing three songs. I did "Boots" then "I Will Survive" and then "If I Had a Hammer." It was an interesting combination.
After the first one, Amber and I went to the bar to buy drinks and the bartender asked me my name. So, I told him and then he told me that there was someone wanting to buy my table a round of drinks because I was such an amazing singer. I thought he was kidding me... Until he began to pour us almost anything we asked for. He and Amber and I did a shot of JD and then I got my Sprite and a Bottle Cap, Amber got her Rye and Coke, Ben's Rum and Coke and another shot. I think we only paid for one of the drinks, otherwise everything else ended up being covered. It was SO weird...
Another odd thing... People were getting up dancing during my songs. I mean, sure, I chose some more upbeat songs... But I'm not used to that kind of reaction. One girl grabbed me when I was walking back to my table to tell me she "loves that song!" and "you did a good job!" I found out later that she wanted to sing it and was kind of pissed that I did it. But I did ask the guy who leads it if anyone else had done or was going to do it and he said no.
I had fun with "I Will Survive" and when I looked up, Amber had been about to go order us food. I look at the table, she's not there. I look at the bar, she's not there either. I look at the people dancing in front of me and there's Amber! She's dancing with this guy, "Johnny"!!! I thought, "What the heck is she doing???" He came back and sat with us (kinda) and apparently had a hard time with the lyrics of some of the songs that were being sung.
During the last song, I was uber nervous. I've never sung it anywhere other than in my car and it has some interesting leaps and such. I had fun though, once I got over my nerves. Amber and Johnny danced the last song too... He was pretty hammered...
Afterwards, I drove Ben home and then took Amber home and stopped to visit with Amy and Jade. The four of us were sprawled all over Jade's bed and we told them about our night. It was awesome!
I haven't had that much fun in a long time and I'm glad we had the night out to unwind!

I've been feeling a lot lately like I'm not necessarily in the right place at the right time. And I don't mean occasionally or in some deja-vu sense but all the time... Like, am I supposed to be living here, spending time with the people I do, becoming involved in the things I am, etc. Sometimes I feel overcommitted and other times I feel as though my life is at loose ends and I have too much time on my hands. I have been working and going to school so much lately that the only day off I technically have is Wednesday which is when I try to schedule things like doctor's appointments, counseling, I drive back from Lethbridge (normally) and so on. So, I try to pack the stuff that I neglect or forget to get done the rest of the week into that one day. I make the phone calls, send the e-mails, organize what I need to and generally run around like a chicken with its head cut off. Therefore, my day of rest is almost as stressful as the rest of my week. That's the other thing... I normally love working with and meeting people. Family Tree and other stuff...
I spent the last four days in Saskatchewan. It was an interesting trip, I got to meet some family members I hadn't met before and learned a lot about my family's history. The hospitality of the people we met (both family and non) was amazing! I am piecing together the family tree more and more now, especially after finding some information in the book "Bridging the Years." I photocopied the pages that were specifically about my family and didn't further read into the fact that I need to read a few other pages that relate as well which (without the book) is frustrating... :P Oh well... I'm at the point that I'm relying on others for information and I am planning on another trip out to Blaine Lake and that area in the Spring/Summer. I'm thinking probably May or June. Thanks to everyone who has given me information thus far! I think that having a family reunion would be awesome at some point as well.... But it's just a thought!

Life, in general, right now...
So, I love this semester thus far! There have been various social situations that add to the way I am feeling about school, work, and life in general.
School is great so far! I have a lot of reading to do and a bunch of essays, assignments, exams and such yet to come this semester but I look forward to many of these upcoming projects!
I will admit, I do feel a little like an idiot, I have my English class to finish off my minor as well as an Anthropology class (because it seems interesting) and a Music History class. I should point out that the reason I’m feeling like an idiot is because two of the aforementioned courses are in the 1000-level. For my degree I was allowed either eight or ten 1000-level courses and I think I only ended up with three or four by the end of my degree program. Now, I need to boost my GPA (as pneumonia last year at the beginning of my Spring semester = dead GPA) so I am taking things I am interested in or things I wanted to take and now have the time/room to take. The Music History class is “History of Rock ‘n’ Roll 1970-1990” and I took the first part of this course (up to 1970) but haven’t had time to take this one.
I am finding English frustrating thus far, mainly because I’m not big into Romantic and Victorian poetry but I am trying to be open-minded. The professor has had us listening to songs and such to help relate the older styles of writing to contemporary disciplines. Most recently, we listened to a rap by Common Sense. It was an interesting correlation, especially as I’m a Music major. I have to admit, I am still worried about speaking up in this class. I’m a perfectionist and I hate being wrong, especially when everyone in the class either laughs or I get the “WTF?” look… But when we began by talking about Romantic poetry, my first thought isn’t “roses, champagne, candlelight, moonlight, love” and so on. To me, it’s a time period in which the formerly used ways of doing things were rethought and many people (mainly composers in my thoughts!) reverted back to a prior way of doing things while adding new elements. It’s late 1700’s through to the 19th-century. I see it that way because of the fact that after that, there is a Victorian Era in writing, and the 20th-century perspective in music. Either way, it was interesting to see who knew the difference. When I mentioned it in class during her question about “what does romantic mean to you?” I asked, “Are we talking about the time period or…?” and she told me we were going to get to that! It made me feel not quite so stupid! (Not that I’m stupid, I just think in a different way than many of my peers.)
In my Anthropology class, I’m pretty bored thus far. Part of it is that the first couple of classes all we really talked about was what is theory, how does it apply to life throughout Anthropology and other disciplines as well as definitions of things relating to Evolution. I will admit, I believe in Creation, not Evolution so right now, it’s hard for me to completely relate. I am finding the discussions on Aztec sacrifices and debate about terms interesting though.
Music History… I love the music we discuss and the stories behind the lyrics in the music as well as the history of each of then group’s formation and membership. We have listened to groups such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniel’s Band and Black Sabbath. I love many of the songs we are listening to and I already downloaded many of the songs for the upcoming weeks and we are listening to Pink Floyd, Kiss, The Who, Genesis, Chicago, etc. I think this class will be a nice break (although it is a LOT harder than most people think… this isn’t a “rocks for jocks” or “scopes for dopes” class!) AND as it’s a music class, it means that I can take the time to study it and won’t feel completely pressured right now. Last semester I could have used a break like that but I didn’t take anything that allowed me that break and almost (or did) burn myself out. This week we are starting with Santana and going over The Doobie Brothers, Aerosmith, and more. I’m super excited! I think part of the reason that I like the class so much is that the professor is entertaining (meaning: she knows her stuff and makes it fun to learn about!) and seems to have fun teaching this class!
My social life has also been interesting. I think that I have been to more birthdays, parties and such in the last few weeks than I did in the last six months of 2007.
After my Christmas party, I had a few people over to watch movies and such a couple of times. Amber’s family, as well as Adam and Julie had New Year’s parties. It was interesting to see everyone at both houses and I’m glad that Matt offered to drive, it was nice to not have to that night. A bunch of us spent the night at Amber’s and it was a nice chance to hang out and not have to worry about being the hostess. Props to Amber’s family for having us over!
A couple of the birthday parties were for Jen’s 18th and Jade’s 16th within a couple of days of each other. We played funny games and such at both and both girls seemed to enjoy their parties, which was awesome to see! In the coming weeks, I have a LOT of friends who have a birthday. But… many of them haven’t told me what they want for their birthday so I may not be buying gifts, I may just get cards for many of them… C’est la vie…
A few of us (Ben, Amber, Matt, Mike, Kevin and I) went to see “Jawbone Hill” play at the Rusty Cage South. We ran into people like Neil, Anne, Vicky, Shaun and Troy (who I hadn’t seen in year!) and generally just had fun talking, listening to/singing along with the music, eating wings (I highly recommend them, they were excellent!) drinking and dancing. I was the DD so I think we need to go again when I can have a drink or two. Some people were doing shots together and I find it interesting what they like and don’t like tended to mesh more than I would have anticipated. The funniest part of the evening for me was watching my friends flirt with each other and the guys at the table behind us check out my friends.
This weekend was jam-packed, although it didn’t start out that way… Wednesday I was in Calgary and Kurt called to see if I wanted to go to Denny’s for food. He told me to invite Amber, he’d call Nathan and see who else I could invite and he’d see me there. It ended up being Kurtis, Amber, Mark, Jordan, Matt, Ben and I. The conversation was inappropriate at times but we had fun. Thursday I stayed in Calgary, mainly due to roads and weather, also because one of my classes was cancelled. Thursday night Ben, Kurtis, Amber and I hit the pool at the club and then they went for wings, I met Matt and we went out to Adam and Julie’s house. We watched “Mr. Woodcock” with Julie, Adam, Christine and Melynda. Friday night Janice, Jade, Amber and I went to see Kevin in “The Pirates of Penzance” at the University of Calgary, presented by the U of C Operetta Company. It was awesome! Afterwards, Amber was spending the night at my house so we randomly texted a bunch of people and went to BP’s. We figured we’d end up with my brother John (who was with us at this point), maybe Kurtis and maybe Ben. The final group was: John A, John S, Matt, Ben, Marshall, Amber and I. And while we were there Nathan and Ali stopped in to say hello. Amber and I went home and talked until really late… Saturday, Amber and I had plans to grab dinner together, then go to Trevor’s birthday party for a bit. Meghan came over in the afternoon and we decided (the three of us) that we would go see a movie. There were other reasons for that decision but I’m not going to get into them right now. I texted a bunch of people and it ended up that Matt, Megs, Amber and I went to Trev’s for a bit, then went and saw “27 Dresses” which was an amazing movie! One I would see again and will probably buy when it comes out on DVD. Afterwards, I took them home and to their vehicles respectively and went home. Ben came over for a bit and he and John sat and talked for a while and then he and I sat and talked. Sunday I had to work, I wanted to go the Hitmen game (I had been invited…) but it started before I was off so I had to miss it. I went and got Kalynda and we surprised the Hayward’s, who knew I was coming over but not that I would have Kalynda with me. We had cake and ice cream, Janice opened her present and then Amber and I drove Kalynda home. We ended up meeting Kurtis and Nathan for “coffee” at the Blackfoot truck stop… It was interesting. I’ve only been there once before, Amber hadn’t been there. We plugged the table-side jukebox with $2 and chose our 7 songs… I’m not sure if singing along in public was appropriate but we did it anyway! :) We had a blast!
This coming weekend won’t be quite as full… I don’t think. Thursday, Grace Baptist is having their annual “Beach Night” and I’m going to try to go for a bit. Then, Jawbone Hill is playing at the original Rusty Cage so we’re going to go check that out. Friday I leave for Edmonton for the weekend. I’m staying with my friends Dana and Mike and it should be a blast! I’m looking forward to hitting the mall on Saturday and going bowling with the other Rovers. Sunday is the ARRT meeting and then I have my work Christmas Party back in Calgary that night. Monday, I work… Then back to school Tuesday!
I’ve discovered something about myself recently. I’m not looking forward to some of my classes because I am bored. Boredom for me = lack of interest. Also, being sick and trying to focus is not one of my strengths. As I have said, there are certain parts of my week that make being in class worthwhile so I’m glad I get to be there. I digress… The thing I discovered specifically is that I’m not happy with myself when I conform to who people think I am, as opposed to just acting like myself. I’m at the, “if you don’t like me for who I am, buzz off!” stage right now. I love my friends and I think that they are God’s way of keeping me sane as sometimes my family drives me nuts… I have recently come into contact with some new and old people. New, meaning I don’t know them very well yet. Old, meaning people I haven’t seen in years. I look forward to whatever the future holds! :)
On that note, I think that’s all I can physically type right now! My hands are sore… ;)
